WHo We ARE
Located in Long Island City, New York, RoboTigers 1796 is an Award-Winning FIRST FRC Team with over 35 members. We are a non-profit high school robotics team based in Queens Vocational and Technical High School.
We collaborate with organizations such as Bloomberg, New York Hall of Science, The World Science Festival, Makers Faire, and The Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum for STEM outreach.
We also do our part in our community by volunteering at soup kitchens, cleaning public parks, and building bikes for kids.
The RoboTiger Emergency Service Squadron is a year-around service that we offer to help our fellow FIRST FRC Teams. This program focuses on providing aid to rookie teams.
As of May 2017, The RoboTigers have won several FRC regional competitions, a regional Chairmans Award, a Championship Division, and placed in the top 5 teams at the St. Louis World Championships.
The mission of FIRST is to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders and innovators, by engaging them in exciting Mentor-based programs that build science, engineering, and technology skills that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership.
Our current roster consists of 32 students and 6 mentors. The team is organized into 6 subdivisions that each specialize in a respective fields.
OUR HIGH SCHOOL
Queens Vocational and Technical High School is a public career and technical education secondary school located in Long Island City, NY. The school has an enrollment of 1,489 students and serves grades 9-12
